Powering up the device #
- (1) To power on, short press the ON/OFF key.
- (2) When powering on, you should see a background photo appear. This photo will remain visible during the power on sequence, which should last about 20-30 seconds. The green LED will remain ON for the duration of the power up sequence
- (3) When powered on, you should see the first page of MAPTATTOO which shows your speed over ground, your heading over ground and a chart. At this point, the green LED should start flashing (2 short flashed every second)
- It might take another 10 seconds – 1 minute to acquire a GPS signal. Until you get a GPS signal, you will see the indication (** NO FIX **) in the speed widget.
- (4) When a GPS signal is acquired, you should see your position on the chart after a few seconds. At this point, the green LED flashing should switch to one short flash every second
- If MAPTATTOO does not turn on, your battery ,might be too low.
Powering down the device #
- (1) To power off, press the ON/OFF key and HOLD until the MAPTATTOO logo appears
- (2) If the battery becomes too low in operation, MAPTATTOO might automatically turn itself down.
Charging #
- MAPTATTOO is supplied with 2 USB Cables: 1 USB-C / USB-C and one USB-C / USB-A
- Both cables can be used to charge MAPTATTOO.
- Remove the USB port cap and plug a USB-C end to MAPTATTOO. You will have to force it into position so that the O-Ring ensures waterproofness. When looking MAPTATTOO from the back, you should not see the red o-ring protrude.
- Plug the other end of the cable to your USB charger. 2 Amps chargers will give you faster charging.
- When charging, you should see a blue LED ON. The blue LED will turn OFF when MAPTATTOO is fully charged
- Fully charging from a completely depleted battery might take about 4 hours
Panning #
- (1) Use 1 finger in order to pan the chart
- (2) Alternatively, if the screen is wet and the touch is not responding, you can use the directional keypad
- (3) Use the “Center” key in order to center the chart on your boat.
- When centered, your chart will pan automatically in order to follow your boat
Zooming #
- (1) Use 2 fingers and pinch in order to zoom-in and out
- (2) Alternatively, if the screen is wet and the touch is not responding, you can use the +/- keys
Getting feature information #
- (1) When the chart is displayed, you can press a feature with your finger in order to obtain information about that feature (ex: light or bridge information)
- (2) Occasionally, you might be close to several features, in that case, they will all be presented in a list and you can touch the specific feature you want information on. Lights, Buoys, Beacons and Fog Signals will be abbreviated so that you can access the essential information without requiring a second click (** New in Firmware 242.0.0**).
- (3) the feature information is displayed on the screen
Accessing and navigating the menu #
The menu allows to access the time, the battery life and several advanced features
- (1) click on the menu key in order to access the menu or close the menu
- (1) use the LEFT and RIGHT keys in order to navigate in the menu
- (1) use the indications at the bottom of the menu to identify the available actions. In this example, we indicate you can use the +/- keys to change page
- ** New in firmware 242.0.0 ** You can now navigate in the menu by touching the entries with your finger
- (2) In this other example, you can use the center key to change the lighting mode of the screen (when navigating at night)
- The “Info” menu entry provides information about MAPTATTOO. We might ask you this when troubleshooting potential issues or when ordering new charts.
- The “Touch” menu entry allows to disable the touch screen when the conditions are rough and if water drops are causing MAPTATTOO erratically (this is unlikely)
Front Light #
- Use the “LIGHT” menu entry
- Press the “o” button (directional keypad) in order to toggle between the different light modes (High, Low, Off)
